Steiff Co. is over 100 years old. They have a Museum and factory
in Germany. The Steiff toys originated in the quaint village of Giengen, Germany on
the Brenz. Margaret Steiff started the company . They make animals, dolls and
bears. They are considered the very best (I think) in the world. Steiff
products are made out of mohair and synthetic fabric. There durability is attributed
to the method used for sewing seams. The machines are programmed to sew a few
stitches and then reverse to tie knots periodically. These frequent knots prevent
seams from coming loose. The present system of production has actually changed very
little in the past one hundred years. In 1905 the famous " button in ear"
was added to every Steiff Toy. |
