Gene enchants a journalist during an
interview in Paris. This elegant cocktail
ensemble epitomizes the tasteful couture of
the era. A slim lilac bodice and skirt is
overlaid with black lace, while four layers
of black and lilac tulle add fullness. With
veiled ribbon hat, rhinestone and “amethyst”
jewelry, hose and rhinestone-accented shoes.
Her titian-red hair in styled in an artful
tumble of curls that frame her lovely,
heart-shaped face. Circa 1953. Red-haired

Gene introduces a jazzy love song of the
same name in one of her film roles, wearing
this gown of dramatically-draped café-au-Lait
chiffon above a slim column of creamy satin.
With glittering “diamond” jewelry and a
flash of rhinestones at the hip, plus
evening gloves, hose and shoes. Circa 1949.

Breathless #6436,
Gene Collection, artist Mel Odom,
designed by Stephanie Bruner, is an
angelically beautiful strapless evening
gown of celestial blue satin, circa
1956. It is hand-embellished with golden
beads, stars “pearls” and gold metallic
embroidery in the intricate mixed
pattern. The bodice features a princess
waist and sweetheart neckline. The full
length skirt is uniquely accented with a
reverse pleat in back, line in
gold lame. Includes a beaded azure
shawl, “peal” necklace and earrings,
golden mesh shoes, hose and a
double-flounced lace crinoline. Gene’s
full, champagne-blonde curls are parted
at the side with an enchanting forehead
wave. Never removed from box before only
to photograph.
